Greece Preview

Greece have made a spectacular start to their UEFA Nations League campaign and currently sit top of League A Group 2 with maximum points from their opening two matches. Ivan Jovanovic's side came from behind to defeat Serbia 2-1 on matchday one, with Anastasios Douvikas scoring a dramatic 94th-minute winner, before following that up with an impressive 1-0 victory over Germany thanks to Dimitris Kourbelis' strike. After a difficult first half of 2026, Greece have suddenly found their rhythm and will be determined to continue their perfect start on home soil. Jovanovic is expected to retain much of the core that delivered those two victories, with Kourbelis and Charalampos Kostoulas potentially returning to the starting lineup.

Netherlands Preview

Netherlands arrive in Thessaloniki sitting second in the group with four points from their opening two matches. Xavi's side began their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Germany before beating Serbia 2-1, with Mexx Meerdink scoring twice in the latter encounter. The Dutch have also lost only once in their last 22 matches after 90 minutes, while they are unbeaten in seven consecutive games during normal time. Netherlands will take confidence from their dominant recent record against Greece, having won nine of their previous 11 meetings. However, Cody Gakpo and Brian Brobbey are both unavailable through injury, leaving Ruben van Bommel and Meerdink in contention to join Crysencio Summerville in attack.

Netherlands (4-3-3)

We Say

Greece's perfect start has transformed them into the early pace-setters in League A Group 2, and their recent victories over Serbia and Germany underline the confidence within Jovanovic's squad. However, Netherlands have also shown impressive consistency under Xavi and possess significant quality across the pitch. The visitors' attacking options have been reduced by the injuries to Gakpo and Brobbey, but Meerdink's recent form and the experience of Van Dijk and Dumfries should give the Dutch plenty of attacking and defensive strength. With a victory potentially sending Netherlands to the top of the group, this promises to be a closely contested encounter in Thessaloniki.
